Learn More About Your Body

Chiropractic Care

Choosing a chiropractor is about more than finding someone to help you feel better. It's about finding someone who listens, takes the time to understand your story, and partners with you in supporting your health. Whether you've never seen a chiropractor before or you're simply curious about what to expect, these questions will help you better understand my approach and what care looks like at Everyday Alignment.

Is Chiropractic Right For Me?

Choosing a healthcare provider is a personal decision, and it's completely normal to wonder whether chiropractic care is the right fit for you. Some people come because they're in pain. Others are looking for a different perspective after trying several approaches, or they're simply curious whether chiropractic could support their overall health. There isn't one "right" reason to explore care. The important thing is finding an approach that feels appropriate for your needs and your goals.

What I've learned over the years is that the best results often begin with a good conversation. Before we ever talk about an adjustment, I want to understand your health history, your concerns, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping to achieve. Chiropractic isn't the answer to every health concern, and if I don't believe it's the right fit for you, I'll tell you. My role is to help you make an informed decision, not to convince you that everyone needs chiropractic care.

Perhaps the better question isn't, "Is chiropractic right for everyone?" but "Is it right for me, right now?" Every body has its own story, and every person's path to health looks a little different. My goal is to help you better understand your body, answer your questions honestly, and determine together whether chiropractic care is an appropriate next step.

Neck, Back & Spine

Your spine is constantly adapting to the way you move, work, rest, and respond to life's demands. While pain often brings people into the office, it rarely tells the whole story. These questions explore why spinal discomfort develops, why it sometimes keeps returning, and how chiropractic care and functional medicine can support healthier movement and function.

What Happens at My First Visit?

Your first visit is all about getting to know you and understanding your story. We'll spend time talking about what's brought you in, your health history, your current concerns, and what you're hoping to achieve through care. I'll also perform an examination to better understand how your body is moving and functioning. My goal isn't simply to identify where it hurts; it's to understand the bigger picture of what's been contributing to your symptoms.

Every person who walks through my door has a different story, which is why I don't believe in one-size-fits-all care. Sometimes an adjustment is appropriate during the first visit, and sometimes it's more important to gather additional information before deciding on the best approach. Throughout the appointment, I'll explain what I'm seeing, answer your questions, and make sure you understand the reasoning behind any recommendations.

I want you to leave your first visit feeling more informed than when you arrived. Whether or not chiropractic care is the right next step, you should have a clearer understanding of your body, your options, and where we can go from here. My hope is that you feel listened to, never rushed, and confident in whatever decision you make about your care.

Will I Be Adjusted on My First Visit?

In most cases, yes. If chiropractic care is appropriate for you, I typically perform your first adjustment during your initial visit. Before we get there, though, we'll spend time talking about your health history, your current concerns, and I'll perform an examination to better understand how your body is moving and functioning. That helps ensure the care you receive is both safe and specific to your needs.

There are times when an adjustment isn't the best place to begin. If your examination suggests that additional testing, imaging, or a referral is needed before moving forward, we'll discuss that together. My priority is never to rush into treatment. It's to make thoughtful decisions based on what your body is telling us and what's in your best interest.

My goal is for you to leave your first visit with more than just an adjustment. I want you to leave with a better understanding of your body, clarity about what's contributing to your symptoms, and confidence in the plan we've created together. Whether your care begins with an adjustment or another next step, you'll always know why we're making that decision.

Does Getting Adjusted Hurt?

This is one of the first questions many people ask, especially if they've never been to a chiropractor before. The good news is that most adjustments are gentle and well tolerated. While you may feel pressure or hear a popping sound during an adjustment, it isn't something most people describe as painful. In fact, many people tell me they feel relief almost immediately afterward.

Every person experiences care a little differently, which is why I tailor each adjustment to the individual sitting in front of me. Your age, comfort level, health history, and the way your body is moving all help guide my approach. If there's a technique that feels more appropriate for you, we'll use it. My goal is never to force your body to do something it's not ready for. It's to work with your body in a way that feels safe, specific, and effective.

If you're feeling nervous, please tell me. I never expect anyone to "just get through it." I'll explain what I'm doing, answer your questions, and make sure you feel comfortable before we begin. Most people leave their first adjustment saying the same thing: "That wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be."

How Long Does an Appointment Take?

Your first visit is a little longer than a regular appointment because we take time to understand your health history, discuss your concerns, perform an examination, and, in most cases, provide your first adjustment. I never want you to feel rushed, and I believe taking the time to listen is an important part of providing thoughtful care.

After your initial visit, most appointments are much shorter. Because we've already established a plan and understand how your body is responding to care, follow-up visits are focused, efficient, and designed to fit into your day. While every person's needs are different, many patients appreciate that they're able to receive quality care without spending hours away from work or family.

The amount of time you spend in the office is important, but it's not what matters most. My goal is that every visit leaves you with greater clarity, confidence, and support than when you arrived. Whether your appointment is brief or more in-depth, you'll always have the opportunity to ask questions and better understand what your body needs.

How Often Will I Need Chiropractic Care?

One of the first questions people ask is, "How often will I need to come in?" The honest answer is that it depends. Every person's body, health history, and goals are different, so there isn't a schedule that works for everyone. My recommendations are based on what I find during your examination, how long you've been experiencing your symptoms, and what you're hoping to achieve through care.

As your body begins responding to care, those recommendations often change. Some people benefit from more frequent visits in the beginning while they're recovering from an injury or working through a longstanding pattern. Others may only need occasional care. My goal is never to keep you coming in more than you need. It's to provide the right amount of support at the right time, while helping you better understand how your body is responding along the way.

I encourage people to think less about "How many visits will I need?" and more about, "What does my body need right now?" Care isn't about following a preset schedule. It's about meeting your body where it is today and adjusting the plan as your health, your goals, and your life continue to evolve.

What Makes Everyday Alignment Different?

Every chiropractor has their own way of practicing. My approach begins with listening. While your symptoms matter, they're only one part of your story. I'm interested in understanding how your body has been adapting, what life has been asking of it, and how those patterns may be influencing the way you feel today. Rather than focusing only on where it hurts, I look for the relationships between your nervous system, movement, digestion, stress, hormones, and the rhythms of your everyday life.

Over the years, that perspective has grown into what I call Digested Living. It's the understanding that health isn't created by addressing one symptom at a time. It's shaped by the way we receive, process, and respond to everything life brings us; from the food we eat and the thoughts we think to the stress we carry, the relationships we nurture, and the way our bodies adapt along the way. Chiropractic care is an important part of that conversation, but it's one piece of a much larger picture.

My hope is that every visit leaves you with more than just relief. I want you to leave with a deeper understanding of your body, greater confidence in its ability to adapt, and practical ways to support your health beyond the treatment table. My role isn't simply to adjust your spine. It's to help you build a relationship with your body that allows you to move through life with greater ease, resilience, and intention.

Do I Need X-Rays?

Not everyone needs X-rays before beginning chiropractic care. In many cases, your health history and examination provide the information needed to determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate and how to move forward safely. If that's the case, we can often begin care without additional imaging.

There are times, however, when X-rays or other imaging are the right next step. If your history, symptoms, or examination suggest that we need a clearer picture before proceeding, I'll explain why and discuss the best option with you. My recommendations are always based on what's safest and most appropriate for your individual situation, not on a routine that applies to everyone.

My goal is to use the information that helps us make the best decisions for your care; no more and no less. If imaging will help us better understand what's happening, I'll recommend it. If it isn't necessary, I won't ask you to have it. Thoughtful care begins with understanding your body, and sometimes that includes imaging, but often it begins with simply listening and examining carefully.

What Should I Wear to My Appointment?

Wear whatever you're most comfortable in. There's no need to dress up or purchase special clothing before your visit. Comfortable, easy-to-move-in clothing is always helpful, but whether you're coming from work, running errands, or heading to another appointment afterward, you're welcome just as you are.

During your examination, I may ask you to perform a few simple movements so I can better understand how your body is functioning. Depending on the area we're evaluating, it's sometimes helpful to wear clothing that allows comfortable movement, but if that's not possible, we'll work with what you're wearing. My goal is for you to feel at ease throughout your visit, not self-conscious about what you have on.

The most important thing you can bring isn't a particular outfit; it's your story. Come with your questions, your concerns, and a willingness to share what you've been experiencing. Everything else, we'll figure out together.
